You know it’s the offseason when these types of storylines are commanding the news cycle for the Chicago Bulls. But it is notable that the Bulls second-year former North Carolina Tar Heels point guard Coby White cuts his hair. Coby’s hair became an icon following the NBA Draft. But his hair was well known before the 2019 draft.

Tar Heel fans will tell you how iconic Coby’s hair was during his one season in Chapel Hill. He just hit a new level of fame after he was picked seventh overall by the Bulls in the 2019 draft lottery. All of the hat memes were incredible following that draft.

Now that White is two years into his NBA career, he’s become a regular fan favorite in the Windy City. Especially when he found his game down the stretch of his rookie season, his star took off. But an inconsistent sophomore campaign in the NBA didn’t do much to help him out in Chicago.

Moreover, it is different to see Coby without the iconic hairstyles he had during his first two years with the Bulls. He cut his hair earlier this week, and it just goes to show how famous his hairstyles were that it drew such a reaction from the fans and media.

Maybe this is a sign of a new Coby heading into his second full offseason in his career. He did round out the 2020-21 campaign better than it started, finding new confidence as the starting point guard. And while he might not be the projected starting point guard heading into next season, there still looks to be a key role that White could hold with the Bulls.

The Bulls wound up finishing up the 2020-21 regular season with a record of 31-41 following a win at home at the United Center over the divisional foe Milwaukee Bucks on May 16. First-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls did also wind up missing the postseason for the fourth straight year.
