Grand prize Chicago Bulls FA targets to watch in the playoffs: Chris Paul

It might not be likely that there’s a huge market for the star veteran Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul this offseason because he might not want out of Arizona. CP3 has found himself in a pretty good situation alongside star shooting guard Devin Booker in Phoenix this season. They are one of the bigger stories out in the Western Conference.

The 36-year-old Winston Salem, NC, native Paul led what is now a hapless Oklahoma City Thunder team to the playoffs last year, when Donovan was still their head coach.

Could executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley find a way to reunite CP3 and Donovan?

It would be a tall task, but one that is not impossible. The Bulls could really use a veteran star point guard presence like the one that CP3 brings to the table. I’ve talked about before how that type of presence in the Bulls locker room could do wonders for the games of younger players like rookie forward Patrick Williams and second-year point guard Coby White.

For the time being, we should appreciate the looming first-round playoff series out West between the Suns and Los Angeles Lakers. It is actually the two-seed Suns taking on the seven-seed Lakers after they knocked off the eight-seed Golden State Warriors in their first game of the play-in tournament.

CP3 is set to have a player option this offseason. If he opts out, he will become an unrestricted free agent. That would open the door for teams like the Bulls to gauge his interest in signing with them.
