Middling Chicago Bulls players that could hit the trade block: Tomas Satoransky
All three of the Bulls players on this list are ones that have one year remaining on their current contract heading into next season. And the final player on this list is the one that has the biggest role with the Bulls. The 29-year-old lengthy combo guard Tomas Satoransky certainly had some flashes of brilliance for the Bulls in the season that was.
What also became clear during the 2020-21 campaign was that Sato might never be able to be a consistent presence as a stable facilitator of this starting unit (or seven the second unit) for the Bulls. There were times when Sato looked to be a solid shooter that could effectively find his teammates. But there were others when he would not be aggressive enough, miss a lot of open shots when he did take them, and force passes that led to bad turnovers.
The defensive production of Sato also remained wildly inconsistent during the regular season. A solid start to the season on the defensive end of the floor quickly turned into one that nearly mirrored his first year with the Bulls. Sato registered a -0.2 defensive box plus/minus rating in both of his seasons in Chicago to date.
Sato is on a contract that is only partially guaranteed for next season, and there would likely be a plethora of suitors were the Bulls front office to place him on the trade block. Given that Karnisovas and the Bulls are openly seeking out point guard help this offseason, it could come at the expense of Sato’s spot in the backcourt rotation.
