Chicago Bulls trades to deal Al-Farouq Aminu: Player swap with the Rockets

If there were a way that the Bulls front office could strike up a trade deal this offseason where they could fill a few rotational/positional needs while dealing out Aminu (considering the lack of playing time he could get next season), that could be perfect for this conversation. The Bulls played Aminu in less than 50 total minutes post-trade deadline.

Maybe a rebuilding team like the Houston Rockets could have more use for a veteran forward and a voice with that much experience in the locker room, like Aminu, than the Bulls do heading into next season. The Rockets are a completely different-looking team, and having some more veteran stability alongside the likes of point guard John Wall and shooting guard Eric Gordon could really help them out.

In this particular trade deal, the Rockets ship out veteran former Texas Longhorns point guard DJ Augustin and former Texas A&M Aggies shooting guard/small forward Danuel House. In return, they get Aminu from the Bulls. The Rockets do get off some lengthier (granted not that expensive) contracts of Augustin and House.

If there were no long-term plans for keeping Aminu around, they would only have one year on his current contract.

House would be the really intriguing part of this trade deal since he’s showed off some improved two-way skills with the Rockets in the past few seasons. He’s around a 44 percent career shooter from the field and 37 percent from beyond the arc. His length and athleticism could serve him and the Bulls well off the bench were he to land in Chicago.
