Jalen Johnson, F
Forward might be the position that the Bulls least need to fill this offseason. Granted that depends heavily on how first-year head coach Billy Donovan wants to scheme up his starting units moving forward. And if the Bulls decide to part ways with veteran forward Thaddeus Young this offseason, then a new spot will open up with this team.
If the Bulls find a way to open up some room in their rotation at the three or four this offseason, then finding a way to also draft the former elite five-star recruit and freshman Duke Blue Devils forward Jalen Johnson could be very intriguing. A forward duo of Williams and Johnson would be very potent for the future of this Bulls team.
It would just be very difficult for the Bulls to find the type of value they could get out of Johnson right away with most other prospects in this draft class. I really like both the floor and ceiling of Johnson, who is very versatile at 6-foot-9 and 220 pounds. During his true freshman campaign with the Blue Devils, he averaged 11.2 points per game, 6.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.2 blocks.
And he shot a very efficient 52.3 percent from the field, 44.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 63.2 percent from the free-throw line.
Johnson is a good distributor playing at the three or the four, a good one-on-one defender at almost any spot on the floor, a very good rebounder, and someone who is very smart with the basketball. Let alone his insanely efficient shooting stats he put up last season.
At really any spot outside of the top three in this draft class, the Bulls would be pretty lucky to get a prospect the caliber of Johnson this year.
