A nice victory, but ultimately possibly a meaningless one in terms of their postseason chances, arrived for the Chicago Bulls at home at the United Center on May 13 over the Toronto Raptors and head coach Nick Nurse. First-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls got the win over the Raptors by a comfortable double-digit margin. This team has now won four of their last five games.
All that remains for the regular season slate for the Bulls at this point are two more games against some of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls will get their second matchup in the last four games with the Brooklyn Nets, and one more with the divisional foe Milwaukee Bucks. That is not an easy way to round out the regular season by any means.
Nearing the end of the road for the Chicago Bulls
Following their win over the Raptors on May 13, the Bulls sport a record of 30-40. While this team wouldn’t be 10 games under .500 if the combination of star shooting guard Zach LaVine and center Nikola Vucevic from the outset of the regular season, their record doesn’t show that of a postseason-worthy team.
It is nice to see the Bulls end the regular season with some level of momentum. But given that the front office shipped off their 2021 first-round draft pick (unless they get really lucky again in the draft lottery), it did take a lot of future assets to get Vooch to town.
We are sure to see a lot of change for the Bulls this offseason. A good number of rotational players sitting in the midst of contract years means that the roster could look a whole lot different heading into next season.
