In the past few years, the value that the veteran 6-foot-7 and 220 pound 27-year-old forward Maurice Harkless carries on the open market has dropped. He could be signed for a price tag of less than $3.5 million potentially. And that is something that the Bulls should jump on if possible this coming offseason.

The Bulls also have a forward that fills a similar role to that of Harkless on the current roster. And that player is a fellow former Magic teammate of Harkless, along with Vooch. Veteran forward Al-Farouq Aminu is currently on the Bulls cap sheet for the current season and through the end of the 2021-22 campaign.

But the contract of Aminu is a lot more expensive than the Bulls could likely get Harkless for. Harkless is currently in the final year of his contract, and he’s getting less than $4 million annually. Meanwhile, Aminu will make more than $10 million in the final year of his current contract next season. Harkless was also more productive in the last two seasons than Aminu.

Harkless has turned into a journeyman over the course of the last few seasons. Last season, he split between the Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers. And this season, he split time between the Heat and Sacramento Kings.

In 34 games played this season, Harkless averaged 5.2 points per game, 2.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks. And he’s shot around 44 percent from the field, 29 percent from beyond the arc, and 81 percent from the free-throw line.
