Terrence Ross, SG/SF
As far as targeting a veteran offensive spark plug goes in the free agent market in the near future, there’s not many options out there as soon as this offseason. If the front office feels that this is a key need worth hitting on this offseason, turning to the trade market might have to be the way that they go.
Even as far as the trade block is concerned, one of the few options available in this particular area this offseason in terms of a veteran scoring guard could be the veteran 30-year-old 6-foot-6 and 205 pound shooting guard/small forward Terrence Ross. The former Raptor was a solid offensive producer throughout his career, and the Bulls might be able to find themselves in a position where they could buy-low on the former Vooch teammate in Orlando.
Ross is not having his best season in terms of shooting percentages, but he is around a career 43 percent shooter from the field and 37 percent from beyond the arc. He will also have two years left on his current contract, worth around $11-12 million annually.
If the Bulls can find a way to make that move given their projected cap sheet for the offseason, Ross could be a nice fit as a sixth or seventh man in the backcourt/wing rotation. He gives the Bulls something they don’t really get now off the bench from the likes of shooting guard/wing Denzel Valentine, veteran shooting guard Garrett Temple, and combo guard Tomas Satoransky.
About the only true spark plug scoring presence the Bulls have in the backcourt rotation at the moment is second-year point guard Coby White. And his production isn’t as steady or proven as Ross’s
Ross has averaged 15.6 points per game, 3.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks. And he shot 41.2 percent from the field, 33.7 percent from beyond the arc, and 87.0 percent from the free-throw line.
