Domantas Sabonis, PF
It would be nice to see the Bulls get some frontcourt help surrounding Vooch in the near future. The Bulls do have a nice fit in the frontcourt rotation between Vooch and former Celtics center Daniel Theis. But that is about it at the moment. After Karnisovas and the Bulls shipped off third-year center Wendell Carter Jr., second-year center Daniel Gafford, and former New York Knicks center Luke Kornet at the trade deadline back on March 25, the frontcourt rotation thinned out.
Now while I certainly liked a lot of the moves that Karnisovas and Eversley made at the deadline, the fact of the matter is that they might have to make other additions to bolster up the frontcourt rotation this offseason. With fourth-year power forward Lauri Markkanen likely on his way out, the need becomes even direr.
One option that the Bulls could look to away from the free agent market is with a player that could hit the trade block in the near future. A name that was tossed around in various circles of media and fan discussion of late that would be interesting for the Bulls is the Indiana Pacers’ two-time All-Star big man Domantas Sabonis.
The idea that the Pacers can’t build their frontcourt rotation both around center Myles Turner and Sabonis has surfaced trade discussions surrounding each of their starting bigs. But Sabonis and Turner would each bring an intriguing level of value to the table for the Bulls, that might be able to fit well alongside the likes of LaVine and Vooch moving forward.
Sabonis is definitely the more potent and versatile of the two on offense, but Turner is one of the best rim protectors and stretch big men in the game today.
