Just missing out on his fifth career All-Star bid this season, the San Antonio Spurs 6-foot-6 and 220 pound 31-year-old shooting guard DeMar DeRozan is having a solid campaign in the final year of his current contract. The ninth overall pick of the Toronto Raptors out of the USC Trojans basketball program in the 2009 NBA Draft is one of the established stars around the league even in the modern day.

DeRozan will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, as he’s not facing a player or team option. He is getting paid a little north of $27 million in the final year of his current contract, which might be the price tag he commands on the free agent market this offseason. He’s still producing at a very high level at this point of his career.

And DeRozan has proved to have a rather high level of switchability to his game that legendary head coach Gregg Popovich has maximized in the last few seasons in San Antonio. DeRozan was more limited as to what he could do when he was playing alongside point guard Kyle Lowry and the Raptors earlier in his career.

In fact, DeRozan has played most of his minutes at the four for the first time in his career this season with the Spurs.

It might be difficult for the Bulls to find a spot for DeRozan in this starting five if they don’t get help at the point guard position this offseason. But if they take care of any needs in the backcourt rotation, then it could be an intriguing fit between DeRozan, LaVine, and Vooch, heading into next season. This would be a fun trio that would be really hard to stop on offense.
