As the Chicago Bulls struggle to find success in the win column in the current season, past legends of the franchise have sports memorabilia and trading cards that aren’t having any sort of trouble finding monetary success on the auction block. The Bulls all-time great shooting guard Michael Jordan clearly is one of the hottest names on the memorabilia and trading card market of late.

Really since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and when the hit 10-part ABC/ESPN/Netflix documentary series “The Last Dance” released last year, the memorabilia and trading card market for Jordan was electric. Some of the highest-priced cards ever sold on the auction block were Jordan’s in the past 12-18 months.

The basketball card market as a whole also heated up with the spike in the sales of Jordan trading cards and memorabilia within the past year. It feels like each month we see a record smashed for the sale of a trading card in a particular sport. And that record is often set by a Jordan card or piece of memorabilia.

Latest on the card market for Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan

Among the Jordan cards currently on the auction block, the one taking the memorabilia landscape by storm at the moment is a 1997-98 Upper Deck Game Jersey card that is signed and graded by PSA. The card is graded a PSA 8, which means near mint to mint condition, and the autograph is graded as a nine.

The card is currently going on auction for $1.41 million, with more than 17 days left before it officially ends. This card could very well wind up being one of the top 10 or 20 most expensive cards ever sold on the auction block.

Another version of this Jordan card showed up on Heritage Auctions back in February 2021 and sold for more than $1.4 million. This card should go for even more given the patch that is on the card.

Both the Jordan trading card and memorabilia market and the basketball card market altogether don’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. They heated up during the COVID-19 pandemic, but haven’t waned in its latter stages since the turn of the calendar year.
