Dennis Schroder, PG
Maybe the most pressing need that the Bulls are facing this offseason, and definitely one that will be often discussed in the next couple of months, will be at point guard. The Bulls clearly need a scoring point guard that can just take the floor as a primary distributor in an effective fashion. And maybe that’s what the Bulls could get out of the Lakers 27-year-old point guard Dennis Schroder.
Proving to be one of the best sixth men in the NBA last season under Donovan’s guidance with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Schroder took on a bigger role in the starting five with the Lakers this season. Although he’s started a lot more this season than he did last, Schroder is still getting around the same amount of minutes on the floor per game.
Schroder has proved that he can handle a starting or sixth man role while playing at a solid level, whichever team he’s with at the time. If the Bulls could get Schroder for less than $12-15 million per year this coming offseason (which might be a difficult feat) it would likely be worth adding him to the backcourt rotation.
It is also evident that the addition of Schroder would help out Vooch since he can be an effective pick-and-roll guard. He’s played in that system with LeBron James and Anthony Davis in LA. The same could be said for when he played in Donovan in OKC. This should be a good fit for either the starting or second unit if Schroder were to land in Chicago.
