I’ve often mentioned the veteran power forward Markieff Morris as a potential free agent target for the Bulls to help out their toughness and depth in the frontcourt rotation. And while nothing has materialized thus far in terms of the Bulls looking to Morris as an option to bolster their frontcourt rotation, it is still a possible move worth noting.

The Bulls proved at times this season how costly it can be to have a lack of depth in the frontcourt rotation. With the likes of Vooch missing now for the Bulls, the lack of depth in the frontcourt rotation is really costing them in terms of a lack of success in the win column. To make up for Vooch’s absence in the starting five, the Bulls had to give more playing time to the likes of fourth-year power forward Lauri Markkanen and veteran forward Thaddeus Young.

Given the possibility that the Bulls let Markkanen walk in restricted free agency this offseason, and that they could trade Young, adding frontcourt help will be key. Turning to a player like Morris who is a veteran voice that can make an immediate impact and add grit to this team would be nice to see for the Bulls heading into next season.

The reigning NBA Champion could help space out the floor for Vooch and hit the glass hard. Vooch can be a defensive liability at times, and Morris’s physical presence down low could also help out with that. While Morris might not be a starting-caliber power forward for the Bulls, he could certainly be one of the most integral rotational pieces off the bench.

Morris is set to become an unrestricted free agent next offseason, so the Bulls could have a chance to pursue him.
