Chicago Bulls: 3 Lakers to pursue this offseason to help Vooch
On the night of May 3, the struggling Chicago Bulls are set to take on the second-place team in the Eastern Conference in the Philadelphia 76ers at home at the United Center. This meeting with the sixers does not come at a great time for first-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls, as they ride a three-game losing streak.
Following a road loss at State Farm Arena back on May 1 at the hands of star point guard Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks by a double-digit margin, the Bulls hold a record of 26-38. They are quickly fading out of the play-in tournament race in the East compared to the surging Washington Wizards and the divisional foe Indiana Pacers.
It looks like the two teams on the outside looking in for the play-in tournament in the East will be the Bulls and Toronto Raptors. That is pretty disappointing considering all of the moves that the Bulls’ new front office regime made at the deadline back on March 25 to try and upgrade this roster.
Chicago Bulls building around Nikola Vucevic and Zach LaVine
The biggest acquisition for the Bulls at the deadline more than five weeks ago was the former Orlando Magic star center Nikola Vucevic. The Bulls landed Vucevic and veteran forward Al-Farouq Aminu in a deal with the Magic which saw them ship off two first-round draft picks, veteran small forward Otto Porter Jr., and third-year center Wendell Carter Jr.
However, it became clear for the Bulls, as star shooting guard Zach LaVine and Vucevic missed time of late, how critical it is to get their stars help.
There are certain teams that the Bulls can continue to look to this offseason to help them improve the roster. Contenders like the Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets, and Los Angeles Clippers, are set to have a number of players hit free agency in the next two years, giving way to a potential scouting opportunity for the Bulls’ new front office.
