Tomas Satoransky continues to show versatility for the Chicago Bulls

One key player that Donovan moved in and out of the starting five for the Bulls since the All-Star Break is the lengthy 6-foot-7 and 210 pound 29-year-old combo guard Tomas Satoransky. Both Sato and second-year point guard Coby White were slotted in and out of the starting five at the one in the past six weeks.

At least in the past couple of weeks, White got most of the starts at the point guard position. Sato hasn’t moved back into the starting five since he missed time roughly two weeks back due to an illness.

However, Sato has played well in a new role for the most part with the Bulls this season. He’s a solid facilitator, runs well in transition, and has improved his defending thus far. Sato has increased his box plus/minus rating, value over replacement player rating, total win shares, win shares per 48 minutes, true shooting percentage, and player efficiency rating compared to last season.

It would be nice for Sato to show a bit more aggressiveness with the ball in his hands on offense. Sato feels like he’s just playing too passive at times. Someone that is shooting better than 50 percent from the field and nearly 38 percent from beyond the arc deserves to get more looks on offense.

Since Sato has one more year left on his current contract, which is partially guaranteed for next season, he’s a very versatile fit for this team. Not only is his contract very team-friendly, but Sato can also fill multiple roles for this rotation. It makes sense that his presence is valued heading into the offseason.
