New Chicago Bulls that aren’t likely to return in 2021-22: Javonte Green

The Bulls did get a few rather intriguing additions to the shooting guard/wing position at the trade deadline. Although they did part ways with the likes of the veteran small forward Otto Porter Jr. in that deal with the Orlando Magic that landed the Bulls two-time All-Star center Nikola Vucevic, they did haul in two other intriguing parts of this rotation on the same day.

One of the two additions to the shooting guard/wing rotation on deadline day for the Bulls was the former Boston Celtics 6-foot-4 and 205 pound shooting guard Javonte Green. And the other was the former Washington Wizards 21-year-old shooting guard/small forward Troy Brown Jr. The 27-year-old former Virginia Cavaliers standout Green hasn’t really found himself getting any key minutes in the rotation, though, since landing in the Windy City last month.

Green has played in six different games for the Bulls this season, totaling just over 33 minutes on the floor. And he’s averaged 4.4 points per 36 minutes, 7.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.2 steals, and 2.2 blocks. Green shot just 14.3 percent from the field, has missed on all attempts from beyond the arc, and is perfect on a couple of attempts from the charity stripe.

Since Green is in the final year of his current contract, he’s not looking like he’s holding a significant enough role to warrant the front office bringing him back for next season. He signed a two-year minimum deal two offseasons ago with the Celtics, but might be looking to hit the unrestricted free agent market come this summer.
