Sharpshooter free agents for the Chicago Bulls to pursue: Courtney Lee

This is one potential underrated free agent signing that most Bulls fans likely wouldn’t think of off the top of their head. The 6-foot-5 and 215 pound 35-year-old shooting guard Courtney Lee is a name that most Bulls fans will be familiar with, though. Lee is a true career journeyman that hasn’t played in a single regular season game since the bubble last year.

In his NBA career to date, Lee has played for a whopping eight different NBA teams over the course of more than 800 regular season games. He spent the longest amount of time with the likes of the Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks, and Houston Rockets. And the last team that Lee played for was the Dallas Mavericks.

Lee played for head coach Rick Carlisle and the Mavericks down the stretch during the 2018-19 regular season, and in roughly two dozen games last year. And he was still shooting well from beyond the arc as recently as last season (hitting his looks at nearly a 45.0 percent clip from beyond the arc in 2019-20).

Of the eight teams that Lee has played for in his career to date, he never shot worse than 37 percent from beyond the arc for anyone. He boasts a career field goal shooting percentage north of 45.0 and a three-point shooting percentage of roughly 39.0.

It wouldn’t be a high-risk move at all for Karnisovas and the Bulls to hand a contract down the stretch this season to Lee.
