Chicago Bulls: 3 Offseason untouchables
Chicago Bulls Offseason Untouchables: Nikola Vucevic
The Bulls trade deadline acquisition of Nikola Vucevic was a statement by the new front office. After half a season with the team, it is safe to say the big man will not be going anywhere.
Vooch was added at the price of Wendell Carter Jr., Otto Porter Jr. and multiple first-round draft picks that are lightly protected. That plays a big part in him being untouchable, obviously.
The team gave up a lot to get him and rightfully so. There is no reason to go back on such a move now, especially when there is no trade involving him that will see the Bulls add a player that helps them more short term. The vision is built partially around what Vooch can do right now and in the coming seasons.
His play has only solidified he is untouchable on this Bulls team. While we are seeing much less of him and LaVine alongside each other than anyone would have hoped, it is still understood that they form one of the league’s most deadly offensive one-two punches today.
Vucevic has brought the play that made him the face of the Orlando Magic to the Bulls from day one. Every strength has proven true and his weaknesses have done the same. The Bulls roster is not fully built to make up for his weaknesses yet, though that will be a priority in the upcoming offseason.
Once the team is being built to make the most out of him, Williams and the player that will be at the top of this list, the Bulls will be a much better team night in and night out.
If there were any questions as to whether Vooch would be an untouchable this offseason, he has answered those questions with his play since the team lost LaVine due to the NBA’s health and safety protocols.
