Chicago Bulls: 3 Offseason untouchables
The Chicago Bulls have a major offseason ahead of themselves as they look to take the next step toward building a consistent winner around their core players. Arturas Karnisovas showed us at the NBA Trade Deadline nothing is off the table.
Well, that isn’t exactly the case. He showed us that he will be creative and aggressive in building a winner in Chicago. That is something Bulls fans are very welcoming of as the last front office had grown stale and a change in approach was needed.
This front office has a few players they should, and will, consider untouchable in the upcoming offseason. Each has good reasoning that will be explained when they are discussed. First, let’s highlight a little bit of what will make players untouchable in general for the Bulls.
To start, there are a few players this front office has a significant tie to in terms of the team’s future. When they took over the Bulls, few changes were made. The Bulls made a free agent signing and used their draft capital and that was basically it for roster change.
The season saw an evaluation period take place before the March 25 trade deadline. At that deadline, we learned a lot more about those currently in charge of the Bulls and the direction they would be taking in building the team.
Aggressive moves were made to bolster the current roster. That came at the expense of upcoming draft capital and a few of the team’s younger players that were not panning out early. It was a smart approach that is not that common for new front offices.
Often, you will see a front office overhaul things completely when they come in and look to build the roster to their liking from the ground up. This group did not do that, seeing the value in having a talented group that features an all-star caliber player in Zach LaVine.
With the addition at the deadline of another all-star, Nikola Vucevic, the Bulls changed their path to success. They want to be competitive and get better gradually before establishing themselves as true NBA title contenders.
In order to do so, these three Bulls will be untouchable this upcoming offseason.
