Chicago Bulls former player they could pursue this offseason: Taj Gibson

Taj Gibson is, like Rose, currently reunited with former Bulls head coach Tom Thibadeau. Could another reunion be coming for the veteran big man? It makes sense from the Bulls side of things.

Gibson isn’t going to move the needle statistically in the box score at this point of his career. Where he would be an asset to these Chicago Bulls is as a veteran and physical presence. Signing him would not take much from a financial standpoint considering his age (Currently 35 years old).

He’s much more worthy of a roster spot than some guys the Bulls have held onto this season, though. If they have roster room for Cristiano Felicio this season they have room for Taj next season.

Gibson carries some of that ‘dog’ presence on the court that this team lacks outside of Daniel Theis. Theis may be gone this offseason, but even if he is back the Bulls need more players who love playing physical basketball.

Gibson played eight seasons for the Chicago Bulls and a ninth season to close out his underrated career would be great for both sides. Chicago is the city where he earned his stripes an an NBA player and he quickly became a fan favorite because of his style of play.

It would be more than a feel-good moment for the Bulls and Taj, though. He could bring so much to the team from a leadership perspective and would be an awesome fit for stretches of play alongside Nikola Vucevic. he could also spell Vooch as a backup center in small-ball lineups.

The Bulls would be smart to pursue physical, intelligent players in the offseason. They would be getting exactly that along with depth in a cheap veteran signing of Gibson.
