As the Chicago Bulls continue their battle for a (hopefully) playoff spot this year, we also want to make sure we’re looking ahead at what may come after this season concludes.

It’s going to be an active offseason for the Bulls and that got us wondering if there were any potential returns that could happen. Players that fans would love to see back and fit what the team needs as they look to continue building a competitive team.

A number of former Chicago Bulls will be available in free agency but only a select few actually make sense. As you’ll see, some of the returnees possess similar skill sets or attitudes. These are things being targeted and why it wouldn’t be shocking to see the team actually reunite with the player.

With that being said, let’s get things started with a point guard that Bulls fans will always have a special place for in their heart.

Chicago Bulls former player they could pursue this offseason: Derrick Rose

One thing that is undeniable about the Bulls upcoming offseason: They will be in the mix for an upgrade at the point guard position. Rose obviously fits that title but might not be the style of player the team is looking for at the point guard spot.

Regardless, he’d be an upgrade to what they currently have and there’s reason to believe he would help the development of Coby White a lot more than other players could. Rose knows what it’s like to be the young point guard of this franchise and that knowledge would be an asset for White both short and long term.

Further, his natural style of play lines up pretty well with White’s. Both are offensive guards that are much more natural scorers than facilitators. Rose was able to become the facilitator he needed to be when he played for the Bulls and how he approached that responsibility would be something that White could learn from.

This move would make sense both because it upgrades the roster and it gives White a mentor to learn from. Where the obstacle might be is just how much the upgraded roster would upgrade the team’s success.

Rose’s a liability on defense these days and his strengths line up directly with those of the team’s best players. The difference is LaVine and Vucevic are much better offensively at this point so how much Rose would help is a major question the front office would need to ask themselves.

This one is a long shot, but it would be cool for fans to see and makes sense from an area of need standpoint.
