I will say that I am a personal fan of the game of the veteran 30-year-old forward Al-Farouq Aminu. But with that said, I don’t believe it’s worth first-year executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley keeping Aminu around for much longer, given the size of his current contract and overall lack of usage.

The Bulls haven’t used the two-way 6-foot-8 and 220 pound former Wake Forest Demon Deacons forward Aminu much at all since he landed in Chicago at the March 25 trade deadline. Karnisovas and the Bulls snagged Aminu in that trade with the Orlando Magic at the deadline that also got them star big man Nikola Vucevic.

Two years ago, the Magic did sign Aminu to a three-year contract worth a total of just under $30 million. He’ll be paid roughly $10 million through the rest of this season and through the 2021-22 campaign. But if the Bulls do want to make better use of this roster spot, then finding a way to part ways with Aminu might be necessary.

Aminu has only played in one game for the Bulls this season since landing in the Windy City at the trade deadline. His two-way skill set could serve the Bulls well, but Donovan and his staff don’t look to give Aminu much of a role off the bench down the stretch. In that case, maybe another trade to send him to a team that would have more use for him would serve all parties well.
