Chicago Bulls: 3 deep rotation players that need more playing time
It feels like the Chicago Bulls have really turned a corner following their April 6 comfortable road win over the divisional foe Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Bulls have now won two games in a row, with two wins over playoff-caliber teams in the Pacers and Brooklyn Nets from back on April 4.
Knowing that first-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls downed the Pacers and Nets by a combined margin of roughly 25 points instills even more confidence in the direction of this team. The Bulls came out of the gates slow following a busy trade deadline back on March 25. First-year executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley were busy at the deadline adding a lot to this roster.
Key additions for the Bulls on deadline day included star big man Nikola Vucevic, center Daniel Theis, small forward Troy Brown Jr., and forward Al-Farouq Aminu, among others. But the Bulls did have to part ways with the likes of third-year center Wendell Carter Jr., second-year center Daniel Gafford, and veteran small forward Otto Porter Jr., among others (including some first round draft picks).
Continued rotation changes for the Chicago Bulls down the stretch
What is a sure thing for the Bulls down the stretch this season is Donovan making continued roster changes and rotation shuffles. He’s still trying to figure out what he has in all of the new acquisitions from the deadline and from the pre-existing roster.
Some of the lineup changes that could be on the way could include more reserve players deeper down the bench getting more minutes night in and night out. That could continue to add some versatility and effectiveness to an inconsistent Bulls bench.
Here’s a look at three Bulls players deeper down the bench that should get more minutes in the near future from Donovan.
