Chicago Bulls: Players drafted after Wendell Carter Jr.
Chicago Bulls: Players selected after Wendell Carter Jr.
Now we get into the more frustrating picks for Bulls fans. This is only being discussed now because it doesn’t hurt as much anymore with the team now featuring two All-Stars and plenty of reasons to be excited about the future.
GarPax made these decisions and they are no longer calling the shots in Chicago. Still, every once and a while some of us may want to remember what led to the new front office that is so promising moving forward. These moves are certainly part of what led to the current situation that is so promising.
Here are the most notable names selected after Wendell Carter Jr., who went 7th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft.
- Collin Sexton, 8th Overall
- Mikal Bridges, 10th Overall
- Shai GIlgeous-Alexander, 11th Overall
- Miles Bridges, 12th Overall
- Michael Porter Jr., 14th Overall
Both Bridges are the ‘honorable mentions’ on this list. That isn’t a knock on either one as a player but more so an admission that they haven’t done enough to truly separate themselves on the court from Wendell Carter Jr. That doesn’t mean they haven’t shown their fanbases reason to be excited.
It also doesn’t say they’re locks to be better players over their careers than Carter Jr., though both very well are on their way to long and successful NBA careers.
Miles Bridges, selected 12th overall, has developed a tendency to get fans out of their seats with his high-flying antics. That has proven especially true this year as he is playing alongside the most talented team he has had in the NBA.
The addition to the Hornets roster of LaMelo Ball has only accelerated and heightened the things Bridges brings to the team and has given the fan base plenty of exciting moments in a limited number of games. He projects as a long-time NBA role player on the wing, which there will never be enough of.
Mikal Bridges has also has shown his fair share of promise in the NBA for the Phoenix Suns. After a few seasons of promising but not overwhelming play, he has really emerged as he also is playing alongside the most talented team he has been on in his short NBA career.
With the Suns suddenly contenders in the west, Bridges has become a huge part of the team in his third NBA season. He is already a good three and d wing and is earning all the minutes he can handle this year thanks to his impressive 41.2 percent shooting from behind the arc.
Now, we move into the top three that will really hurt to look back on the Bulls missing out on.
