Jalen Suggs, PG
There are not many more sensational NBA Draft prospects to witness this year in the NCAA Tournament, at any point of the festivities, than the freshman star point guard Jalen Suggs. The 6-foot-4 and 205 pound former elite five-star recruit and West St. Paul, MN, native Suggs is among the top prospects in this draft class.
Suggs was the one that hit the game-winning three-point shot from near halfcourt in overtime to beat the Bruins. But it’s much more than that which brings his value near the top of draft boards. Suggs is a versatile offensive threat as a good shooter and efficient primary ball handler. He’s also a good one-on-one defender that has a high basketball IQ off-ball.
However, really the only way that Karnisovas and the Bulls could get their hands on Suggs is if they miss the playoffs and get lucky in the draft lottery. If the Bulls do land in the top four of the draft lottery for the second straight year, then Suggs should be one of the top names on their big board.
Suggs was solid this season for the Zags averaging 14.1 points per game, 5.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.3 blocks. And he’s shot around 51 percent from the field, 34 percent from beyond the arc, and 77 percent from the free-throw line.
The way that Suggs plays for the Zags in the National Championship Game could go a long way to determining where his slotting could line up in the draft lottery. It’s big for him to be in this spotlight to prove his NBA Draft stock.
