There were some former Bulls players in the bubble last year in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic that made the most of their opportunity in bench roles with new teams. Those like current Phoenix Suns point guard Cameron Payne and Orlando Magic point guard Michael Carter-Williams were solid in the bubble at times and still remain on NBA rosters this season.

However, there are other former Bulls players that didn’t make enough of an impact in the NBA bubble last season at Disney World in Orlando, FL, to find themselves on another pro roster this season. One of those that falls into that bucket is the former Bulls point guard and 19th overall pick in the first round of the Washington Wizards in the 2015 NBA Draft Jerian Grant.

Since Grant never got to offically play for the team that drafted him in the first few years of his career, getting signed by the Wizards for the bubble was an interesting turn of events for Grant. Prior to playing with the Wizards in the bubble last year, Grant spent one season with the New York Knicks, two with the Bulls, and one with the Magic.

In just six games played with the Wizards in the bubble last year, Grant averaged 4.5 points per game, 1.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.2 blocks. And he shot 37.0 percent from the field, 25.0 percent from beyond the arc, and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line.

In two seasons that Grant played with the Bulls from 2016-2018, he averaged 7.2 points per game, 2.1 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.1 blocks.
