Chandler Hutchison, SF
It didn’t shock all that many Bulls fans that the run of the former Boise State Bronco and third-year small forward Chandler Hutchison came to an end at the trade deadline this year. Karnisovas and the Bulls shipped Hutch off to the Washington Wizards, along with fellow former Arkansas big man Daniel Gafford, for the return that consisted of former Los Angeles Lakers big man Mo Wagner and small forward Troy Brown Jr.
The Bulls would also wind up flipping Wagner to the Boston Celtics before he could even play a game in Chicago. What the Bulls got in return for both Wagner and center Luke Kornet for the Celtics was two-way center Daniel Theis and 27-year-old shooting guard Javonte Green.
But the play of Hutch in the last few games since making his Wizards debut was actually pretty solid. It looks like his fit with head coach Scott Brooks and the Wizards could be much better suited for his game than it was with Hoiberg, Boylen, or Donovan, in the Windy City.
The 24-year-old Mission Viejo, CA, native and 6-foot-6 and 210 pound wing is already averaging more than double the number of minutes on the floor per game in three outings with the Wizards than he did in seven outings with the Bulls this season. Hutch is averaging just north of 22 minutes on the floor per game for the Wizards thus far.
And in the three games he’s played in the nation’s capital thus far, Hutch averaged nearly 10 points per game, five rebounds, one assist, 0.5 steals, and no blocks. He’s shot around 50 percent from the field, 30 percent from beyond the arc, and 80.0 percent from the free-throw line. Hutch has helped to contribute for the Wizards in a near-upset of the Charlotte Hornets and a big win over the Indiana Pacers since landing in D.C. last week.
