Chicago Bulls: 3 players to sign that could help push for the playoffs
Players that could help the playoff push No. 2: Emmanuel Mudiay
One of the more surprising players that still remains on the free agent market at this point of the season is the former Denver Nuggets lottery pick and 25-year-old point guard Emmanuel Mudiay. This 6-foot-3 and 200 pound Democractic Rebuplic of the Congo native Mudiay should be able to find a landing spot very soon.
Mudiay was largely improving his game in the last two years when he was actually on an NBA roster. But he didn’t get a chance this season, despite the steps he was taking in his development. He played in two seasons with the New York Knicks from 2017-2019. And then he was rostered with the Utah Jazz in the bubble to round out last season.
In 54 regular season games played with the Jazz during the 2019-20 campaign, Mudiay averaged 7.3 points per game, 2.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.2 blocks. And he shot 46.2 percent from the field, 34.5 percent from beyond the arc, and 75.9 percent from the free-throw line.
The Bulls could really use an offensive spark off their bench that could be a more consistent playmaker than the second-year point guard Coby White. Mudiay would add some valuable depth to the backcourt rotation off the bench. And he is a player that was drafted by the Arturas Karnisovas front office regime during his days with the Nuggets.
Mudiay would be an interesting signing for the Bulls that could be an underrated piece in the second half of the season. I’ve long taken the stance that Mudiay would be a good addition for the Bulls, and the move would still make a lot of sense.
