Down the stretch this season, first-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Chicago Bulls could face some challenges pulling the rest of this roster together post-trade deadline. The Bulls made a lot of roster moves back on deadline day, March 25, that was supposed to put this team into more of a win-now mode.
Instead, the Bulls have lost their last two games since the passing of the trade deadline late last week. It could just take time for this Bulls team to mesh together, but the results in the two games since March 25 were anything but desirable.
The Bulls fell short at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs back on March 27 and the Golden State Warriors on March 29. This is all part of a road trip where the Bulls had nine road games in a streak of 10 outings, most of which comes against tough Western Conference competition.
Looking ahead for the Chicago Bulls stretch run
Next up for Donovan and the Bulls comes on March 31 on the road against veteran star point guard Chris Paul and the Phoenix Suns. The Bulls need to get a win in their next game or two both to get this new-look team headed in the right direction and to stay firmly in the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference.
Some of the big names that the Bulls acquired on deadline day included the former Orlando Magic big man Nikola Vucevic, forward Al-Farouq Aminu, and Boston Celtics big man Daniel Theis, among others. What could be the next step for this Bulls roster to form together down the stretch?
If they want to more effectively fill out the rotation in the near future, here’s a look at three current available free agents that the Bulls could look into.
