Younger players struggling No. 3: Ryan Arcidiacono
The oldest player on this list is also one that is getting a bump in playing time of late. Donovan needs more support out of this backcourt rotation behind the likes of combo guard Tomas Satoransky and the star scorer LaVine. That’s where the 27-year-old former Villanova Wildcats point guard Ryan Arcidiacono can come into play.
The 6-foot-3 and 195 pound Arcidiacono didn’t get much playing time out of the gates this season, but he was pretty efficient when he did see the floor. Now that he’s seeing more of an uptick in playing time post-All-Star Break, Arcidiacono is seeing a lot of his shooting percentages and advanced metrics take a decline.
Arcidiacono has now played in 27 games for the Bulls so far this season, averaging just under a dozen minutes out on the floor per game. In December and January, Arcidiacono played in just five games. Since the start of last month, he has played in nearly two dozen games for Donovan and the Bulls.
His offensive rating is at the lowest point of the season so far through the month of March (102). And Arcidiacono is down to shooting 34.3 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line in 11 games played in March.
In fact, outside of three games played in January, Arcidiacono doesn’t have any other month this season where he’s shot better than 27.5 percent from beyond the arc. As a traditionally good shooter and tough defender, the Bulls should expect more out of Arcidiacono than he’s provided for them of late.
