Chicago Bulls: 4 prized buyout market targets post-deadline
Prized buyout market targets No. 2: Andre Drummond
One of the true prized targets on the buyout market for any potential playoff contender around the NBA landscape at this point of the regular season is the now former Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons big man Andre Drummond. And while it’s likely that more of a title contender than the Bulls will land the dominant big man Drummond this year, Karnisovas should still reach out and try to sign him.
The ex-UConn Huskies center is still just 27 years of age and stands at 6-foot-10 and 280 pounds. He’s one of the best rebounders in NBA history, which could help out some of the Bulls woes in the paint against better opposing big men this season. As a whole, they might need more help in that regard after parting ways with third-year center Wendell Carter Jr., second-year center Daniel Gafford, and former Knicks center Luke Kornet at the deadline.
While WCJ has a high basketball IQ, he wasn’t the most dominant rebounder that the Bulls ever had. But, the former Arkansas Razorbacks rim-running big man Gafford was a solid rebounder and rim protector off the bench. Even Kornet could fill that role at times for Donovan and the Bulls this season.
Now they are left pretty thin in the frontcourt rotation post-deadline, and Drummond could solve that problem immediately. It makes a lot of sense for the Bulls to pursue a big man in Drummond that is also well-rested from the Cavs not playing him much ahead of the deadline.
Not getting locked into the big contract that Drummond used to carry with him and getting a truly dominant presence in the paint would be a nice move for the Bulls post-deadline.
