Last piece to the puzzle

The last key piece of the puzzle to examine is the Lauri Markkanen situation. According to reports, the Bulls were listening to offers for him during the deadline, but he remains on the roster. There have been questions about the fit between him and Vucevic defensively, and only time will tell if they can co-exist on the same basketball court.

If they can work it out, then it would be wise to assume he continues to stay on this roster and develop. But considering he is a restricted free agent this summer, he only has half a season to prove his worth. If he can’t, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him signed and dealt, or shipped at the beginning of next season.

As for on court success, if the Bulls can continue to an upward trajectory of development and grow off the back of a playoff berth this season, it would not be bold to assume this team can begin to challenge for the Eastern Conference title by the team Vucevic’s contract begins to expire in 2023.

As for right now, Bulls fans should have faith in the front office, because if this deadline day has taught fans anything, it’s that this office is committed to getting the Bulls back to the top.
