Chicago Bulls target in a Lauri Markkanen trade: Jarrett Culver, Minnesota Timberwolves

Like Hampton, Culver is a bit of a flier given what he has shown in the NBA so far. He made our recent list of potential buy-low targets for the Bulls and that naturally led him to an appearance on this list.

He has struggled to make an impact in Minnesota and that doesn’t appear likely to change given the log jam forming in front of him. Rookie Anthony Edwards combines with Malik Beasley to account for quite the investment from the Timberwolves organization and that could lead to them moving Culver before his value drops any further.

The Timberwolves are building a very promising team and have the focal points in place already. That would put Markkanen in the perfect spot to come in and play a role he is capable of handling moving forward.

For the Bulls, it’s a flier on a promising young wing that has shown he can do a little bit of everything on the court. He would add to the versatility the team is forming on the wing with rookie Patrick Williams and veteran Thaddeus Young.

A very important part of this is the added year of team control before restricted free agency that Culver has. This gives the Bulls front office more time to make a final decision on the investment he is worth and gives the team more flexibility in the next year and a half.
