Chicago Bulls 3rd best trade asset: Tomas Satoransky

The Chicago Bulls are keeping one veteran off the table in Thaddeus Young, but have another that holds value in addition to Garrett Temple. That’s veteran guard/wing Tomas Satoransky, who would bring value to both contending teams and teams looking to add a solid veteran to their rotation.

Sato is a big guard that does a bit of everything and is capable of running the offense for any bench unit. He’s shooting above 50 percent from the field and above 40 percent from behind the arc this season and has the vision to find his teammates when they’re open. In many ways, he is the perfect point guard to bring off the bench and lead a second unit, with the exceptions being teams that desire a scorer in that role.

On a fair contract, Sato is earning $10 million this season and is on the books for the same number next season, the 29-year-old playmaker offers great value. That extra year of team control helps increase his value and the fact that it’s at a fair price only helps. If he is brought in by a new team they know they have control past the rest of the season. Additionally, they know he could easily be used in a trade at a later time and won’t be a burden on his cap number.

Many teams come to mind when thinking of where Satoransky would fit best. Most are off the bench, but some teams around the league make sense in terms of starting the veteran. A contender like the Clippers would certainly love to add a long playmaker that can do everything on the floor while a team like the 76ers could value another natural playmaker in their rotation.
