Sharpshooter trade deadline targets No. 1: Buddy Hield

As the definition of an inconsistent team and inconsistent player showing out so far this season, former Oklahoma Sooners shooting guard Buddy Hield and the Sacramento Kings are having a hard time finding their footing in the Western Conference. Still somehow teetering on the brink of playoff contention in the West, Hield and the Kings are still pushing for relevance.

The 6-foot-4 and 220 pound 28-year-old Freeport, Bahamas, native Hield is not having his best season in the NBA so far this year. Hield as a potential trade target for Karnisovas and the Bulls fits a common theme among all of the players on this list. They could get Hield potentially for a cheaper price than in year’s past.

The biggest problem that the Bulls would face in pursuing Hield from the Kings would be his current contract that takes him through the end of the 2023-24 season. Hield would cost a little more on an annual basis on average than LaVine. He’s due more than $20 million on average for each of the next four seasons.

So far this season, Hield has averaged 16.9 points per game, 4.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.3 blocks. And he’s shot under 40 percent from the field, 38.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 84.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Still, Hield is posting a career-low box plus/minus rating, player efficiency rating, and number of win shares per 48 minutes. This might be the right time for the Bulls to buy low on Hield.
