The one player that fans in Chicago are hoping for more than anyone else to arrive in the city on trade deadline day is the New Orleans Pelicans two-way 6-foot-6 point guard Lonzo Ball. The former UCLA Bruins stud and 23-year-old California native Ball is having another solid season as he continues to elevate his game on both ends of the floor with the Pelicans. But now it’s Bulls rumors that are circling the headlines concerning Ball at this point in time.

First-year executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley are about to have a busy trade deadline come March 25 for the Chicago Bulls. And the one player that their entire fan base wants them to get is the Pelicans two-way floor general Ball.

According to a report from ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski on March 24, the Bulls are the “team to watch” in a Lonzo trade with the Pelicans come deadline day on March 25. The Bulls would be a nice landing spot for Ball if he wanted to return to a big market at his next stop.

There’s a big looming need that first-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls have at the point guard position. Between combo guard Tomas Satoransky and second-year point guard Coby White, it’s hard to find a long-term answer as the starting floor general for the Bulls.

Ball might be able to fix that for the Bulls given his level of improvement since landing with the Pelicans more than two years ago. And he’s been in the discussion for a while for the Bulls as a target at the deadline.

The end of the trading window in the NBA comes on March 25 at 3 p.m. CT. Karnisovas and the Bulls will need to have any moves made by that point if there’s anything in the pipeline.

So far this season, Ball has averaged 14.2 points per game, 4.2 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.6 blocks. And he’s shot 42.5 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from beyond the arc, and 76.7 percent from the free-throw line, in 38 games played.

The Bulls head into deadline day with a record of 19-23, as they’re currently battling the divisional foe Cleveland Cavaliers on the night of March 24. It’s still hard to tell if Karnisovas and the Bulls will be deadline buyers or sellers this year.
