Draft prospects to watch in March Madness No. 5: Jalen Suggs

A prospect that is almost ensured to be a high lottery pick come the 2021 NBA Draft is the Gonzaga Bulldogs star freshman point guard and the former five-star recruit Jalen Suggs. This lanky and gifted 6-foot-4 and 205 pound West St. Paul, MN, native Suggs stood out right away with the top team in the country under head coach Mark Few.

Suggs is also one of the more decorated prospects in this draft class, especially considering he is just making his way through his true freshman campaign. He received a laundry list of accolades so far this season including All-WCC First-Team and All-WCC Tournament Team selections, WCC Tournament MVP, and WCC Newcomer of the Year.

To get all of those honors, Suggs was able to average 14.3 points per game, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.3 blocks, in two dozen games played thus far. And he shot 51.2 percent from the field, 35.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 73.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Suggs looks to be one of the better draft prospects in this class that should also have an extremely high floor at the next level. He’s a good well-rounded guard that has the maturity in his game to translate his skill set immediately when he makes the jump to the NBA.

Getting this bright of a spotlight on him, and seeing of he can finally lead the Zags to a National Championship, will be the true test for Suggs in the coming weeks.
