2) Players least likely to be with Chicago Bulls post-deadline
Otto Porter Jr., Small Forward
One of the key players that Donovan and the Bulls got back in the rotation after the All-Star Break was veteran small forward Otto Porter Jr. This 6-foot-8 and 200 pound 27-year-old wing is valuable to the rotation when he’s actually healthy. In the three seasons that the Bulls rostered OPJ since they landed him two years ago at the deadline from the Washington Wizards, he’s only played in 48 games (a little more than half of which he’s started in).
Moreover, OPJ currently sits in the midst of the final year of his current contract. And he’s the highest paid player on the Bulls cap sheet, which means he brings a lot to the table in terms of ability for the front office to salary match on the trade market.
There’s already a few teams that have showed rumored interest in an OPJ trade, including the Golden State Warriors and Portland Trail Blazers out in the Western Conference.
It makes sense that a two-way wing like OPJ would be drawing so much trade interest. He’s only got one year left on his current contract and he brings a veteran two-way ability to the table that’s going to be hard to find among potential wing trade targets at the deadline this year.
So far this season, OPJ has spent much of the year dealing with an upper-body injury. But he was productive when healthy. Landing a three-and-D wing that has a number of win shares per 48 minutes above .100 and a player efficiency rating above the league average is something that a number of other NBA teams would be lining up to do.
