3) Players who should be in Chicago Bulls starting 5
Tomas Satoransky, Combo Guard/Wing
It seemed like only a matter of time at this point of the season before Donovan would want to make a move at the one in his starting five. Second-year point guard Coby White is not getting it done on a consistent basis this season. White was not really able to capitalize on the momentum he built up down the stretch during his rookie campaign when he couldn’t do anything wrong on the offensive end of the floor.
At this point of the season, though, White’s stat line looks pretty similar to how it did throughout his rookie campaign. That’s not going to be enough to keep him in the starting five for the rest of the season in all likelihood. A potential replacement for the Bulls would be making the move back to their starting point guard last season, with the 6-foot-7 combo guard/wing Tomas Satoransky.
The overall efficiency of Sato so far this season coming off the bench is much more proficient than that of White. He’s managed the ball effectively as a primary or tertiary ball handler and/or shot creator. You definitely know what you’re going to get out of Sato. He’s a consistent presence at really any position that he plays at one through three in the lineup.
It is very nice to have Sato in the mix just to always have an option to go to if someone like White isn’t producing at the level he needs to. Sato could be a nice spark plug for the starting five, as his assist to turnover ratio for his time with the Bulls to date a little north of 2-to-1 could be much more handy for this starting group.
