All-Star weekend came and went very fast in Atlanta, GA, on March 7. I do not know how many Chicago Bulls fans enjoyed the 20-21 All-Star Sunday festivities. But for me I only enjoyed watching shooting guard Zach LaVine celebrate his first All-Star nod, the Bulls first All-Star selection in four years.

I think fans and teammates can agree Bulls All-Star shooting guard LaVine sounds pretty dang cool and impressive given the state of this organization just a short year ago. Both LaVine and the Bulls have come almost full circle in less than one full calendar year.

It was well deserved and a long time coming! LaVine looks to be headed towards super stardom and is giving this young team real hope and a shot at a possible playoff berth. Just like our last All-Star, it has been four years since the Bulls played in their last playoff series.

I was also very excited to watch LaVine participate in the 3-Point Contest, I actually, was really  hoping he would win it, but when you consider the names of the other contestants, it is to no surprise that he was not the victor!

Especially when he was up against the likes of Stephen Curry, the best shooter to walk on Planet Earth. LaVine did score 22 points in the first round of the contest just not enough to advance to the final in the second round. He is now 0-2 in his quest to become a 3-Point Contest champ!

Curry once again showed the world why he is the best shooter in NBA history. He won his second 3-Point Contest in very dramatic fashion, beating Mike Conley 28 to 27 by sinking his last money ball. Curry needed every one of those points to seal the title again.

It was still outstanding to watch my favorite player on my favorite team finally get his well-deserved spot on the All-Star team. LaVine played for team Durant. In 28 minutes, he scored 13 points on 50 percent shooting, and he had four rebounds, three assists and a tie with Jaylen Brown for a team high in steals with 3.

Team Durant fell short of team LeBron by the score of 170-150. To me it may or may not have been one of the most boring games I have ever watched. Most players just seemed uninterested.  The Slam Dunk Contest was even worse than the game itself in my opinion. BLAH!

In all honestly the Dunk Contest did save us a potentially grueling half-time recap of how bad and boring the game itself truly was. I seriously would say the game was uncompassionate and inharmonious, just a waste of time and without fans basically defeats the whole purpose.

LaVine would have dominated the Dunk Contest if he participated. The contest could have used some bigger names in it and the event itself also lacked creativity and athleticism from the contestants. Personally, I think Adam Silver needs to address the Dunk Contest or just get rid of it all together.

As we now look forward to the second half of the 20-21 season, I want to focus in on what is next for our shooting star LaVine. He has shown great improvement in his ever-evolving game on the court and is growing massively into the Bulls leader and one of the NBA’s brightest ascending stars.

Now here’s a deeper look into what LaVine can do for the Bulls from here on out since he’s got his first All-Star Game in the rear view mirror.
