Will the Chicago Bulls front office answer the calls for the veterans?
Next, we can all wonder what is going to happen to our two savvy veterans in Garrett Temple and Thaddeus Young? They have both been great players and have shown great leadership this season.
The Bulls are not where they are at right now without these two veteran leaders on the roster. They have both had major impacts in contributing not only on the floor, but their contributions have carried into the locker room and traveled with them on the road. These factors have resulted in much better basketball being played by this young team.
Mainly Young; his impact has been a key factor in many Bulls victories in the first half of the season. He has this young team bought in, and it has translated into winning. You can see how engaged this team is when Young is on the floor. He leads by example and players feed off him.
I do understand the business side of things, and I realize it is a possibility he is traded before the deadline. He is not in our long-term future, and his stock will never be higher than what is now. He would be missed and very hard to replace.
So, for me I hope young sticks around, but then again, he is at the tail end of his career so maybe joining a contender is a preferred destination for him. Father time is undefeated, Young is not getting any younger, the Bulls are far away from being championship contenders.
Temple could find himself on a new team by the deadline as well there are plenty of teams in need of a veteran guard. My only concern is what the Bulls lose in trading our two top veterans. Trading players away does not always make your team better.
I have concerns with the idea of trading away the leadership both Young and Temple bring to this team. Every decent team in the league, carries multiple veterans in the line- up, they are much needed when developing young talent. Trading away that leadership may never be replaced.
