2) Chicago Bulls likely to remain with the team post-deadline

Coby White, Point Guard

Although there’s plenty of chatter surrounding what Karnisovas and the Bulls will do regarding their point guard situation heading into the future, it doesn’t mean that second-year former lottery pick Coby White won’t be a major part of the rebuild moving forward. The former North Carolina Tar Heels point guard White still is a key piece of this young core.

The questions surrounding White’s fit with the Bulls starting five has to do with his fit with the team as their true point guard. White isn’t a good one-on-one defender on the perimeter, and he can struggle at times as their primary facilitator.

There’s no questioning the volume scoring ability, ability to run in transition, and the capability of White as just a raw bucket-getter for the Bulls. This means he might fit best in more of a combo guard role with the Bulls moving forward.

Nonetheless, it is definitely not worth seeking out a trade for White this coming deadline. He’s still very valuable to this rebuild, and is a good fit alongside the likes of LaVine and the veterans like shooting guard Garrett Temple and combo guard/wing Tomas Satoransky.

White hopefully will still take steps to move his game in the right direction for the rest of his sophomore campaign in the NBA. He’s averaged 16.2 points per game, 5.1 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.1 blocks, so far this season. And White shot 42.0 percent from the field, 35.4 percent from beyond the arc, and 89.6 percent from the free-throw line.
