There’s only one game left for the Chicago Bulls and first-year head coach Billy Donovan before the All-Star Break arrives later in the week. And this will be the first time in four years where the Bulls will actually have someone participating in the festivities at the All-Star Game. The Bulls will see their 25-year-old 6-foot-6 former UCLA Bruin and star shooting guard Zach LaVine in this year’s All-Star Game in Atlanta, GA.

LaVine is the first All-Star selection for the Bulls since their former star shooting guard/small forward Jimmy Butler back in 2017. This was the longest drought the Bulls had gone through without an All-Star nod since the post-Michael Jordan era in the late 1990’s and throughout the 2000’s.

The Bulls player that broke the drought after Jordan in the late 2000’s/early 2010’s was the former MVP winning point guard Derrick Rose. Back in his hay day with the Bulls, D-Rose was a three-time All-Star selection.

Moreover, the way that LaVine was able to snap this drought for the Bulls was elevating both his own game, and thus the production of his supporting cast. So many other players on this team are seeing their games get taken to another level in unison with LaVine.

As a result the Bulls are also finding more success in the win column. Although they’ve lost two games in a row, the Bulls sit with a record of 15-18 at this point, within striking distance of a low playoff seed in the Eastern Conference.

With all of this in mind, here’s a look at three players that LaVine is helping improve around him this season for the Bulls.
