3) Chicago Bulls playmaker PG trade targets
Victor Oladipo, Guard
It really has been a crazy year for the former Indiana Pacers star guard and the 28-year-old 6-foot-4 and 215 pound Maryland native Victor Oladipo. The former Indiana Hoosier was already traded once this season, when the Pacers dealt him to the Houston Rockets in that crazy multi-team deal that saw superstar guard James Harden land with the Brooklyn Nets.
If the Pacers and Rockets could get Dipo on the move to help facilitate that Harden trade to the Nets earlier in the season, then the latter of those two teams might want to do the same to move their rebuild forward again. The Pacers were able to get the likes of former Nets rising star guard Caris LeVert to Indy in the Dipo trade, and the Bulls might be able to get something residual out of this deal too.
The Rockets don’t have much need to keep Dipo around over the long haul, thus the possibility emerges that he could be traded once more before it’s all said and done this season.
Dipo is playing well for the Rockets on both ends of the floor so far during his time with that team. He’s started in all of the 22 games he’s played in between his time with the Rockets and Pacers this season. And he’s averaged 19.4 points per game, 5.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.4 blocks. Dipo shot 40.3 percent from the field, 32.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 74.7 percent from the free-throw line.
If the Bulls were able to land a guard like Dipo at the trade deadline, without giving up the likes of LaVine, then it would be a major win for them. The Bulls would be able to knock out two needs in one deal by getting a solid two-way guard that is a good perimeter defender, and add a second playmaker alongside LaVine.
