Chicago Bulls: 3 best All-Star selections since 2010
3) Chicago Bulls best All-Stars since 2010
Jimmy Butler, Shooting Guard/Small Forward
Since there were three occasions throughout the 2010’s that the former Bulls star shooting guard/small forward Jimmy Butler was an All-Star selection, it’s hard to pick just one year that stands above the rest. The first career All-Star selection for Butler, and one of three with the Bulls, came back during the 2014-15 campaign.
But it’s really hard to argue that the final year that Butler played for the Bulls, back during the 2016-17 campaign, wasn’t his best as an All-Star for this team. Butler got his third career All-Star selection in 2017. That was also the last All-Star nod that the Bulls got as a team prior to LaVine getting the call as a reserve this week.
However, back during the 2016-17 campaign, Butler averaged 23.9 points per game, 6.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks. And he shot 45.5 percent from the field, 36.7 percent from beyond the arc, and 86.5 percent from the free-throw line.
All of that amounted to a career-best 7.3 box plus/minus rating, 6.6 value over replacement player rating, .236 win shares per 48 minutes, 13.8 total win shares, 123 offensive rating/106 defensive rating, 58.6 true shooting percentage, and a 25.1 player efficiency rating.
Butler also had his most productive outing of any of his five career All-Star Game appearances in 2017. He registered six points, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal in the 2017 NBA All-Star Game.
