Chicago Bulls: 3 forgotten players that should be deadline targets
1) Forgotten players who could be Chicago Bulls targets
George Hill, Point Guard
If the goal for Karnisovas and the Bulls is to nab more of a veteran to lead in the locker room at the point guard position for the Bulls, then a good place to look could be with the former IUPUI product and Oklahoma City Thunder floor general George Hill. This reliable 6-foot-4 and 190 pound 34-year-old Indianapolis, IN, native was the 26th overall pick in the first round of the 2008 NBA Draft of the San Antonio Spurs.
The longtime Indiana Pacer and Milwaukee Buck is having an underrated efficient regular season to date with the Thunder this season. Hill is returning to the form he once held with the likes of Spurs, Pacers, and Bucks as a reliable point guard night in and night out. That’s the role that the Bulls could use behind White at the one in their backcourt rotation.
Hill has started in all 14 games he’s played in for the Thunder so far this season, averaging around 26 minutes on the floor per game. Although, Hill has spent a good stretch of time in the last couple of weeks injured. Hill is dealing with a thumb injury at the moment, but he should be back in the lineup in time for the March 25 deadline, with room to spare.
In the slightly over a dozen games that Hill played in so far this season for the Thunder, he’s averaged 11.8 points per game, 2.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.1 blocks. Hill shot 50.8 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 84.0 percent from the free-throw line.
Nabbing a reliable veteran point guard presence that has a two-way nature to it, like Hill brings to the table, could be a solid fit with this building Bulls team this season.
