On the night of Feb. 17, first-year head coach Billy Donovan and this rising Chicago Bulls team were originally scheduled to take on star forward Gordon Hayward and the Charlotte Hornets on the road at the Spectrum Center. But that road meeting with the Hornets set for later this week was pushed back in the wake of novel coronavirus related issues on Charlotte’s side.

Due to contact tracing by way of positive COVID-19 tests from the San Antonio Spurs from last weekend, a few members of the Hornets will now have to enter mandatory quarantine thanks to the league’s health and safety protocols. The Hornets had two games pushed back due to these COVID-19 related issues, and the Spurs had three. None of those three games the Spurs will have delayed were set to come against the Bulls.

Donovan and the Bulls look like they could now have another opponent on tap in place of the originally scheduled Hornets game on Feb. 17. This time the Bulls could return home in the midst of a road trip this week to take on the divisional foe Detroit Pistons at the United Center on Feb. 17. Shams Charania of The Athletic posted this schedule update from the NBA on his Twitter timeline on the early afternoon of Feb. 16.

This means that the Bulls could have one more game before they hit the road again to take on the tough Philadelphia 76ers on Feb. 19. It also takes their originally scheduled three-game road stretch this week and turns it into one game at home and two on the road.

Getting Chicago Bulls schedule set

The set tip off time it appears now between the Bulls and Pistons at the United Center on Feb. 17 is 7 p.m. CT. It will be the second home game over the span of three days for the Bulls this week. The other home meeting will come against the Sacramento Kings on Feb. 20.

Moreover, the Bulls last game resulted in a solid 120-112 overtime victory over the divisional foe Indiana Pacers on Feb. 15 on the road at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The Bulls have now won three of their last four games entering the meeting with the Pistons on Feb. 17.

Heading into this meeting with the Pistons on Feb. 17, the Bulls sport a record of 11-15. Meanwhile, the Pistons come into this game with a record of 8-19 (good for last place in the Eastern Conference standings), with their last outing resulting in a sizable 123-112 win over the New Orleans Pelicans from back on Feb. 14.
