Each of these free agent targets that could help shore up the Bulls frontcourt rotation depth has a bit of a separate purpose. If Karnisovas and the Bulls wanted to nab a big man that still has a good amount of untapped potential and could help space the floor for them, then they should look no further than with the former lottery pick and seven-footer Thon Maker.

It was just over one month ago that the Bulls divisional foe Cleveland Cavaliers originally parted ways with Maker after he made his way to Ohio from another divisional foe in the Detroit Pistons. In fact, all three teams that Maker has played for in his NBA career to date were in the Central Division.

Maker started out his run in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks after that team selected him 10th overall in the first round of the 2016 NBA Draft. The 23-year-old power forward could now find a permanent home in his fourth stop in the league.

Moreover, Maker played in just eight games this season with the Cavaliers (none of which he started in) prior to his release last month. And he averaged 3.8 points per game, 2.3 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks. Maker shot 55.6 percent from the field, didn’t make any of a couple of attempts from beyond the arc, and shot 90.9 percent from the charity stripe.

Over the course of the last two seasons with the Cavaliers and Pistons, it looked like Maker was really starting to find his way in the league. The Bulls could pick him up when his stock is weirdly low, and the value he brings to the table is still pretty high.
