Chicago Bulls: Trending in the wrong direction at the wrong time
We all watched it last night. The Chicago Bulls lost another, down to the wire game. This time to the Wizards. Another bottom tier team beats the Bulls. It was a bad loss and these young players seem to only know how to lose these tight games.
Zach LaVine kept it close and had a chance to win it on his last second missed layup. That miss didn’t lose the game for them. There were plenty of mistakes throughout the night. I’m starting to see major issues on this Bulls team. At now 9-14 the Bulls are trending, this trend is in the wrong direction.
Losing night in and night out in close games has just become this young teams new normal. I can look more into why it happened, what we lacked, or I could even say Bradley Beal is just a stud, just doing what an All-Star does. I’m not going to though. The Bulls lost this game because they are not a good team collectively.
They only know how to lose and I stand by my word. If the Bulls keep playing like this Zach will not be an All-Star this year. Beal showed what an All-Star caliber player does in this league in crunch time. Zach has had plenty of chances to prove his super star status but keeps coming up short. If Zach hits that layup last night he’s an instant All-Star.
Zach keeps playing at a very high lever. This is a positive but only for Zach’s numbers. His superb play as of late becomes irrelevant, most importantly his talents are being wasted. Zach deserves to be surrounded by more complimentary pieces. His teammates tend to stand around waiting for Zach to save the day. , individual players play a role in helping a teams win games together. Hero ball has and never will be a winning philosophy.
I’m a die hard Bulls fan, I watch every game and listen to every press conference, along with reading every article I can about my team. So I am a very informed fan and I look deep in the roots of my favorite team.
I tend to think to myself often about the Chicago Bulls,
“Maybe just maybe this is all a fluke and the Bulls can figure it out as the season goes on”. Yeah, I don’t think so”, this young teams has many eye popping flaws. They will end this season with 20 wins if this trend continues. Not only that, the Bulls are better than these late game close losses, or they aren’t and my fan hood clouds my judgment.
The second the Bulls fall behind they have already lost in there heads. Mental toughness is a huge weakness, believing in each other, going to battle for your brother isn’t showcasing in this young core.
I’m actually just lost for words at times and there’s to many bad habits on this Bulls team to explain. It’s written in plain sight. This team needs to be broken up and Coby White needs to be moved to the bench. Some new faces and letting go of a few nice players might be a positive for this young Bulls team.
The Bulls need to make a trade for something new. A change is needed, most importantly these players need to feel the heat and pressure to realize they aren’t secure and there’s plenty of NBA talent waiting for a chance to do what you haven’t been able to yet.
To know that these types of mistakes night after night aren’t acceptable. This current Bulls roster are just to comfortably and are used to losing games. As a unit this team is not very functional.
You have to first function as a unit before a winning culture can even begin to start happening. Egos need to be checked at the door and every player needs to find their role and make it a priority to perfect that role. Every player on this roster needs to look in the mirror and ask themselves, ”how can I be better”?
That includes the coaching staff,
First-year Bulls head coach Billy Donovan, he himself knows he’s a better coach than his 9 win record has shown. OKC was much less talented than the Bulls last year. Billy got way more out of them than this current Bulls roster. Most importantly what Donovan had last year was a true playmaking point guard. he also had a dominant defensive presence. This current roster lacks both of those commodities.
No way I’m Donovan and I’m just excepting mediocrity. Or mental lapses like Daniel Gafford and his little stunt last night. Accountability is what these players need the most at this point in the season. The front office cannot wait until the off-season to decide on the next direction.
We are already way behind the curve and I’m not interested in a year five rebuild. The gentleman who built this roster had zero vision, its clear they had no clear plan and failed miserably in helping to develop any sort of identity.
This lack of mental toughness this young team shows might be unfixable. If Donovan can’t fix this team, then there isn’t a coach in this world that can fix this roster. I almost feel losing is okay to this team. It’s so frustrating as a fan.
It’s a waste of a season to just continue to place hope on this broken roster. From what I’ve seen in coach so far this season he knows what needs to be done. Let him make the tough decisions that need to be made.
The Bulls have pieces to build on already on this roster. It’s just this current unit as a whole are not a good fit for each other. We only have good players as a team we stink! It’s now up to the front office! I’ll end with this random DMX reference “ lord give me a sign”. That’s what’s on my mind. Make a move that shows us the Bulls are looking to Build a winning culture again.
Anything is better than losing in the manner the Bulls have been losing!
