3. Bulls move for Kevon Looney

With James Wiseman’s recent success in Golden State, Kevon Looney suddenly seems like the odd man out in the Bay Area.

Looney has fallen from starting key playoff games to averaging just 14.7 minutes per game, rapidly dropping out of the future plans of a Warriors team that already has Wiseman and three-time All-Star Draymond Green.

Moving on from Looney and his three-year, $14 million contract makes sense for a Warriors franchise that likes playing small-ball, as does adding wing help in Chandler Hutchinson and gaining future draft capital. Add in Kornet’s expiring contract to make the money work and you’ve got an attractive looking trade.

Chicago meanwhile gets a promising 25 year old big man with more playoff experience than most NBA players, including an impressive series against the New Orleans Pelicans in 2018 where he helped contain Anthony Davis.

Looney is an outstanding interior defender, making him the perfect fix for Chicago’s defensive woes, as well as an outstanding fit beside Markkanen when he returns from injury.

Looney’s long term and modestly priced contract makes him a perfect addition to put behind Wendell Carter Jr. for the years to come.
